The Verde Valley diesel engine train as it begins to snake it's way over wooden train trestles through the Verde Canyon in Arizona, USA, taking tourists and day trippers on a 4 hour scenic ride. The railroad was originally built to haul copper ore from the mining town of Jerome, Arizona to the Clarkdale smelter. At the beginning of the ride you can see a 40-acre man-made mountain of ore and old power plant. Every other car is open to enable standing and walking around to view the beautiful scenery consisting of high red rock formations, cliff dwellings,surprising glimpses of old farms, a 680-foot man-made tunnel , the Verde River and wild horses at watering holes, Cottonwood trees, all the while being surrounded by distant purple mountains and fluffy white clouds in blue skies. Located in Verde Valley, Arizona, USA.
